Respect Our Faith is a growing grassroots campaign of clergy and religious lay people who want to protect houses of worship from partisan politics. The campaign is organized by the Texas Faith Network. A project of the Texas Freedom Network Education Fund, the Texas Faith Network is made up of mainstream religious leaders who share a faith that produces a politics of community and compassion.

This campaign establishes and promotes ethical standards to guide both religious leaders’ involvement in electoral politics and political leaders’ involvement with religious communities. This goal is accomplished through a pledge for religious leaders and a pledge for religious laypeople who share the belief that partisan politics should stop at the church door.

The Respect Our Faith campaign will also serve to educate the public at large through the media, speaking engagements and community outreach about the positive and respectful ways religious organizations can participate in the political process. In addition, the campaign will serve as a public watchdog, shining a light on politicians or congregations that cross the line between religious congregation and political party.
